EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from the emotional distress associated with traumatic or disturbing life experiences. During EMDR, a therapist guides the client through sets of bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sounds) while the client recalls a troubling memory. This process helps the brain reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional charge and allows for more adaptive thinking.

Who Benefits from EMDR?

  • People with PTSD or trauma (including childhood trauma, accidents, assaults, or medical trauma)

  • Individuals with anxiety, phobias, or panic attacks

  • Those struggling with negative self-beliefs or low self-esteem

  • People with grief or complicated loss

  • First responders or those in high-stress professions

  • Anyone who feels “stuck” due to a past experience they can’t seem to move past
